First day was a piece of cake (not literally of course 😜). Who doesn't love scrambled eggs with cheese!?! Simple, quick, and delicious. I started out the day with store bought Devilled Eggs.
They needed some jazzing up, but not bad. Lunch was those succulent scrambled eggs with cheese, which felt like a treat because I was eating breakfast for lunch. I was a bit lethargic but overall in good spirits. Dinner time came around and at that point I was hangryyyyyy and a bit sick of eggs. Dinner was 3 egg omelette with cheese. I wasn't full, so I added a few more Devilled Eggs as an after dinner snack. I go to bed, not quite hungry, not quite full.
Day 2, I wake up and think 🤔 You know what this 💩 is stupid, why the hell am I eating all these dang eggs? Then I got on the scale. I was down almost 3lbs over night. I felt rejuvenated and revitalized. Mentally prepared for another eggy day 💪🏾, that was until I took that first bite of egg. Womp, womp. I now felt like I was eating baby food. Choking each bite down, I mentally focused on why I was doing this. Then came lunch 😫. I was smart enough to meal prep, but not smart enough to realize that by this point I would rather lick a boot than eat scrambled eggs for another meal.
But again I reflected on the scale victory, gagged a bit, then ate my bowl of egg mush. By 3pm, hanger had set in. Devilled Eggs, jazzed up. The change in texture was a welcome treat, however I was still eating eggs 😐. Dinner time brought a level of hanger that knew know bounds. I was mean, snappy, tired, crabby, you name it. I felt horrible. My loving husband, seeing my mood, poured me a very large glass of wine. Every part of me was tested: my patience, my nerves, and my will power went 🌋🌋🌋. I just sat on the couch feeling overwhelmed and starving. Needing something quick, I scrambled 4 eggs 🤢🤢, ate on the couch, and turned on Housewives of Atlanta. I went bed early just to get the day over with.
Day 3, I jumped up like a kid at Christmas and ran to the scale. Bam!!!! I'm down 3.6lbs and I'm back at my goal weight. Hallelujahhhh, Thank You Jesussss. Let's get this day started. I can do this. One more day, for results like this, I'll eat a carton of eggs 😅. My thinking is "If it ain't broken, don't fix it", scrambled eggs with cheese and devilled eggs 🤷🏾♀️. But I decided to get a little fancy and sprinkle some dried onions, put a lil hot sauce, add some smoked paprika... I was determined to make this day be as smooth as possible. When I was sprinkling the dried onions I accidentally opened the pour side and a literal waterfall of onions poured out
🌊😭🌊.YOLO, I like onions. I was making 6 eggs (breakfast and lunch) so it was oniony, but not nasty. Again, hungry and lethargic throughout the day and really questioning my life decisions. Dinner was a cheese omelette. After dinner my daughter asked for a snack. I opened the refrigerator and she pulled out the buffalo wings. I had to wipe the drool from my chin. I finally broke. The chicken called my name and I answered. I had some chicken, but technically that's just a grown up egg right 😂🤣😂.
I lasted 60 hours instead of the full 72 but I was still proud.
Day 4, The morning after I finish my egg fast I excitedly went to the scale. Up 1.8lb! The F*CK !?! LIESSSSSS. Got on the scale, got off, got on, got off. Moved it to the left. Picked it up and shook it 🥺. Slapped it, flipped it, rubbed it down, OH Noooo! I know weight fluctuates, but WTF. I checked my ketone levels with my ketomojo...0.4!?! How the hell was I out of ketosis?! What kind of chicken was that 🤔😬🤨🤨. I thought all morning, maybe too much cheese, maybe the chicken... ONIONSSSS. My jazzing up totally jacked me up. I googled 'Carbs in dried onions'. 4g per tbsp. I would say like 5 or 6 tbsp fell into me eggs 🤦🏾♀️. I think I even added a little bit to my omelette 😫. I sabotaged my own progress.
Day 5, 6, 7, My weight has maintained at a steady 176.4 lbs. I lived my normal five guys and white claw weekend. Overall net weightloss of 4.6lbs. Was it easy 🤔 Absolutely not. Will I make this a regular thing 🤔 Absolutely not 😅. Was it worth it in the end, I think so. I will just take the whole experience as a lesson. Lessons learned: Watch for hidden carbs, you can think you are on track, but could be accidentally sabotaging yourself. I have pretty good will power, but I'm human and have a breaking point. And last but not least, I'm really 💩-head when I'm hangry.

What are the eggfast rules?
I’ve customized the egg fast to my own preferences, and here are the basic guidelines of the egg fast that I followed:
Eat 3-5 meals of at least 2 eggs each, starting no later than 10am
Have 1 Tbsp of butter or sugar free mayo per egg consumed
6 ounces of full fat cheese (cream cheese, cheddar, brie, etc.) allowed per day (eaten with eggs or separately as a snack)
No eggs after 7pm (cheese allowed after 7pm if starving, counts as part of the 6oz daily limit, I stuck to hard cheese)
Don’t go more than 4 hours between meals or snacks between 10am and 7pm.
Drink 100 oz of water per day (minimum)
Supplement with magnesium and potassium (lite salt) daily.
Small amounts of fresh herbs, hot sauce, no carb sweeteners, and spices will be allowed – as long as they are less than 1g net carbs per serving, not to exceed 5g net carbs per day.
because one piece of fried chicken has 10g of carbs because the outer skin is battered with wheat! you ate 8 pieces which is 80g carb. that’s a lot!
Hi…oh my you had me laughing. I did 3 days and was going to be done but I’m actually enjoying the egg fast. Only thing I miss is my wine. lol. I’m down 4. something pounds. I consume 2-3 carbs per day. Do 2-3 fried eggs w butter and salt n pepper for breakfast or lunch if I’ve slept in w bullet proof coffee (1 tbsp butter n 1 tbsp MCT oil) then 2-3 eggs mashed w s&p, sweet paprika n carb free mayo as my fat. Only yesterday did I have Brie cheese. But I have no appetite, I have to make myself eat. So weird. I’ve also been keto for almost a year n a half but felt bloaty the last week so decided to do it. Anyhow, thank you for your post!!
Thank you for your transparency and educational benefits; I want Keto like I want to live. I must get a handle on my weight, and so thank you for the breakdown and understanding.
You most definitely just got me interested, I will try this egg fasting out and see how it goes. I sure do love this post. Thank you
Same here on the dried onions! I love them and they add so much flavor. I’m thinking the surprising carb count is due to them being dehydrated, which I’m thinking is just the dry version of something being concentrated? I’ll watch the amount much closer when I’m making a one-person meal for sure. Adding them to a larger dish while being mindful of the amount may be a better use for them as the total carbs will be divided amongst several servings. Great post. Thank you!
